Why we built it

Most landowners sign one promotion or option agreement in their lifetime. The promoter on the other side of the table has signed dozens. The agreement can tie up your land for ten years or more, and the promoter you pick decides whether anything comes of it.

The evidence needed to choose well already exists. Planning applications, appeal decisions and company accounts are all public. But they sit in separate registers, council by council, and nobody had pulled them together for the people who need them most. We do that, starting in Hampshire.

Who runs it

OptionMarket is a trading name of Fold Digital Ltd, a company registered in England and Wales (number 09898457), with its registered office at 31 Cattle Market Street, Norwich, NR1 3DY. It was founded and is run by Richard Rowley.

How we're funded

Landowners never pay us. Our income comes from promoters, and only when a landowner asks us for an introduction. Every promoter can receive introductions on the same published terms, and no promoter can pay to change its score, ranking or position.

We also plan to sell benchmark reports to land agents and solicitors who want evidence for their clients. Those reports use the same data and the same method as everything else on this site.

What we're not

We're not a land promoter, a developer, an estate agent or a law firm. We don't buy land or take a share of it, and we don't give legal, tax or valuation advice. Our guides are general information to help you ask better questions of the professionals you appoint.
